Mrs. Nita M. Ambani is an executive director of Reliance Industries and the Founder-Chairperson of Reliance Foundation. She is a co-owner of Mumbai Indians and the Founder-Chairperson of Football Sports Development, which launched the Indian Super League in 2014. In recognition of her contribution to sports, Mrs. Ambani was elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee in 2016, becoming the first Indian woman to receive the honour. The Nita Ambani-led Reliance Foundation was also honoured with the Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Award 2017.
Mrs. Ambani is the Founder-Chairperson of Dhirubhai Ambani International School (DAIS), which the Times School Survey 2016 ranked the No. 1 School in Mumbai in the ‘National + International School’ category. In the field of art and culture, Reliance Foundation sponsored the ‘Gates of the Lord’ exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago and partnered with The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, to showcase the works of Nasreen Mohamedi. Last year, Mrs Ambani was honoured by The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, for her philanthropic work, becoming the first South Asian to receive this honour.
